Charter fishing in Moriches, NY

Tough fishing today

Michael and friends aboard today with totally different result than yesterday. One keeper bass boated, one keeper lost at the back of the boat, and a few shorts. Boat traffic was heavy so ended further in the back of the inlet than I prefer.

In less than a half an hour they boated fout more keepers to reach their limit. All tolled 17 bass over the rails with a few missed ones too.

Foggy day bass

Two charters today had excellent fishing despite the fog. The Joe and Holly morning charter limited out on bass up to 36″ in the first hour. Caught and released two more keeper sized bass and a couple of shorts. The afternoon Ed and Lisa charter also limited out with Lisa catching her first bass ever of twenty pounds. Also released a few nice sized fish.

Windy weekend bass

The East winds made it tough to get set up bass this weekend. Alberto and his family managed three keeper bass on their trip on Saturday. Sam and Connie also had three keepers on their trip with one over the 30 pound mark. Sunday afternoon, Jim and his crew were only able to bring in skate after skate. The captain decided Jim should be given another shot at the bass on Memorial Day.

First bass of the season

John F. and friends aboard today. We fished the back of the inlet for the last four hours of the outgoing. Slow for the first two hours then the bass started biting. First bass onboard was 32″, followed by a pair of 34″, two 30″, and finishing off with two at 27″. They only kept a 32″ fish and released all the others.

2011 season comes to an end.

Hauled the boat out for the winter. We had a great year fishing with old and new customers. A trip given to honor our veterans was quite memorable and will now become an annual event. Thanks to those who donated food, fuel and bait to make the event successful. See you in the spring. Have a happy and safe holiday season.
Captain Jeff

Vets Day Trip successful

Despite the howling northwest winds we set sail at 0830 after having coffee supplied by fellow veteran Dennis L, aka clamdigger307. Set the hook in the inlet and tossed out clams and eels. Clam bait and chum were supplied by veteran Robert W., aka robertskywalker and the eels provided by good friend Jim D., the morichesmonster.
The clam was hit right away but only on for a short burst. We managed 2 keeper bass, 3 short bass, 1 keeper cut off at the boat and a handful of skates.
The fishing wasn’t great and the winds were terrible but the company was excellent.
Thanks to John(USCG), Ron(USN), Warren(USA), Nunzio(USAF), and Manny(USMC) for making this trip a real pleasure to provide.
Thank you to all our Veteran’s for your service. We plan on making this an annual event to honor our military men and women.

Two in a row

Took an hour longer to limit out today. Mort and Todd out for their final trip of the season and they weren’t disappointed. Four keepers, a few shorts, plenty of skates, and a missed fish or two, kept them busy today.
